Maury Jail Release Destinations
A Maury County Jail release entry records the end of the Sheriff's custody transaction. It does not always show a return to the community. Bond, a court order, dismissal, credited time served, or sentence expiration may permit a person to leave, unless another valid hold remains. A transfer notation means a receiving agency took custody. That agency might be the Tennessee Department of Correction, another county, the U.S. Marshals Service, or immigration authorities.
Read the release type beside the destination or receiving-agency field. “Released to TDOC” means county custody ended while incarceration continued. An extradition works the same way. By contrast, a bond release ends the jail hold under pretrial authority, but it does not end the criminal case. Confirm Maury Jail Releases
The official Sheriff “Inmate Information” link leads to a general Corrections page, not a searchable roster. No official recent-release tab, release archive, or person search was verified. That makes direct confirmation and the underlying record central. A current web absence has little meaning because there is no county person-level web result to interpret.
- Call Booking at 931-375-8661 or Corrections at 931-380-5733. Ask whether the person remains in Maury custody and whether staff can identify a release date or receiving agency.
- Search Tennessee SAVIN through VINELink by the exact name or offender ID. Check the reporting agency and record details.
- Review the Maury court case at the Tennessee court information portal for bond, dismissal, sentence, or later orders.

Maury Jail Release Records
Maury County does not promise a document titled “release certificate.” Ask for records that already exist. A narrow request for the booking sheet, jail card, custody entry, and release entry is more useful than asking staff to create a new account. Include the full name, known booking date range, booking number, and case number when available.

Use the current Maury County public-records form. It asks for the record description, contact and delivery details, inspection or copy choice, and Tennessee citizenship or identification information. The older Sheriff request form names Rebecca Prince for records returns at the same Lawson White Drive address, with fax 931-380-1122 and RPrince@maurycounty-tn.gov. It published weekday inspection hours and copy rates, but a newer county form now exists. Confirm the current fee and response process before relying on the older terms. Inspection can be requested, and a requester may ask for a cost estimate before copies are made.

Maury County Jail Custody
Maury County Sheriff's Department Corrections operates the county's documented adult jail. The official Corrections page says it holds misdemeanor and felony detainees and uses computerized intake and booking. Its state-certified capacity is 386. Capacity is a facility measure, not a count of releases, and monthly jail population snapshots should not be converted into release estimates.
The Magistrates Office is in the same building. Magistrates conduct initial arraignments shortly after arrest and set bonds. Booking can say whether bond has been set, but “bond set” does not mean “bond posted,” and even a posted bond does not prove that physical release processing is complete. Staff may still need to address warrants, holds, identity, paperwork, or transfer arrangements. The release entry records the completed county event.

Maury Jail Transfers Aren't Releases
The Sheriff's separate Transport Unit gives Maury County Jail records an important local context. That unit moves prisoners to courts and other locations, performs extraditions, and retrieves people wanted by other jurisdictions. A person can therefore disappear from Maury custody because transport moved the person into another legal system.
Follow the chain. If the destination is TDOC, search FOIL after the transfer posts. If another Tennessee county is named, contact that custodian. A federal handoff may require the BOP locator or federal court docket, because the U.S. Marshals Service has no general public historical locator. The ICE locator applies to current immigration detention and is not a dependable archive of past discharge events. Each system answers only for its own custody.

Maury Jail Negative Results
A negative result has a narrow meaning. No Maury web result cannot prove release because the county offers no person-level roster. No SAVIN result may reflect spelling, timing, coverage, or record availability. No FOIL result is common when a person was never a qualifying TDOC felony offender. An empty court search may point to the wrong court division, a restricted matter, an indexing problem, or an expunged record.
Use each channel to test a specific question. Booking addresses whether Maury still holds the person. SAVIN reports a custody event from a participating agency. The court supplies legal authority and disposition. FOIL addresses Tennessee felony custody or supervision. When those sources conflict, preserve the exact wording and ask the record owner to clarify. Do not convert silence into a release date.
A stale result also needs care. Physical movement and data posting may not occur at the same instant. Phone confirmation plus the agency's release entry is stronger than a single screen. For a past event, request a narrow booking-date range because VINELink is not promised as a permanent archive.

The page confirms which local tools the Sheriff endorses. It also helps avoid unofficial sites that claim a real-time Maury release feed the county does not publish.
The official Maury County Jail photo gallery is different. It shows facility spaces, such as the booking area, holding cell, pods, kitchen, laundry, and clinic. It is not an archive of people's booking photographs. A named booking image should be requested as an existing county record, subject to exemptions and redaction, rather than sought in the facility gallery.
